Mandi is a traditional dish that originated in the Arabian Peninsula — made with long-grain rice and meat that's slow-cooked with whole spices, traditionally in a tandoor or pit oven. It's deeply aromatic, comforting, and often served at celebrations across the Gulf.
When people from Kerala's Malabar region — a coastal area in southern India — migrated to the Gulf, they brought that flavor home and reimagined it. They infused it with bold Kerala spices, garlic sauces, and local ingredients — creating what we now call Malabar-style Mandi.
Our family has been part of that evolution, helping build over 130 Al Raydan Mandi restaurants across India.
